I tried 5 new things last month & this is what happened

I won’t lie, I’ve been in a bit of a creative funk lately.

After taking some time to recenter my goals, I realized that I am a story-teller through and through. So while others are good at blogging outfits & their go-to products, I like to take the longer-winded, more visual, story-teller approach.

All this to say, I’ve been brainstorming ways to share aspects of my life when I’m not traveling, and figured I would start with last month.

September was a big month full of new things. I don’t even know if I realized it but I have been suddenly compelled to make small changes that have brought me more joy.

5 changes I made in September

  1. Joining a dance studio

Call it serendipity or call it the government spying on me, but I swear I was just talking about joining a dance studio a few weeks ago and the very next day saw an ad for a studio on my Facebook.

With nothing to lose, I decided to try it out, fully anticipating a room full of elderly people or people not taking dance seriously.

Boy was I wrong. It has been so fun to get out of the house and shake my bum/let loose. I now have a membership and go every week which has been just as powerful for my mind as my body.

2. Deleting text messages at night

If I’m being honest, I still don’t really understand “the cloud” or really most storage options for that matter… something about it all being magically stored somewhere confuses me, which is evident by my daily notification of storage reaching capacity on my phone. In attempt to prevent that stupid box from popping up one more time, I started deleting my text messages and oddly enough I find it to be super satisfying! I’ve started deleting texts every night before bed if the conversation needs no follow-up, which makes it so much easier for me to respond to people and start with a clean slate! Try it and let me know if you like it too.

3. Wearing a CC Cream

I really don’t wear makeup. Like really ever. Like seriously never.

But, there are some days when I spent too much time annihilating my blackheads the night before and wake up with some extra redness. Usually after spending time in the Target dressing room with the insanely terrifying bright lighting that highlights every blemish. Hahaha that was so graphic, but you get it. When that happens I love to apply a little CC Cream before work and BOOM. I am good to go baby! It also has SPF which I know is key to aging gracefully.

(The one I use is from Mary Kay)

4. Editing using the Tezza app

This is a little bit of a secret that I’ve been holding onto, but I LOVE Tezza’s editing app. I mostly use it for quickly tweaking photos or videos for IG stories, which yes I know sounds excessive, but I just have a thing for quality content.

My favorite part is her newly released film filter that makes my photos look like they were pulled from an old shoe-box, which just so happens to be a style that I adore.

5. Bible Study/Social Hour

I recently started a bible study/book club/social hour with my bestie gal. Each week we read 3 chapters of our book, which is spiritual in nature, but not like an actual Bible, and then share our favorite quotes or what we think certain stories mean. We jot down practical ways to apply the messages in our lives, even creating action-items before the next week. We are only a couple weeks in but I can already feel the difference it is making in my life!

The book is Everybody Always by Bob Goff.

Get it now.

It has been so so fulfilling to make changes in my life, no matter how small, to better myself! Do you have any little changes you’ve made lately that I should try? I’d love to hear it!!

Cheers!
