GET TO KNOW Katie

At nearly nine years old I received my first point-and-shoot camera. I don’t think my parents knew that the baby-blue device I unwrapped Christmas morning would spark a long-lasting passion within me. It was around this time that I also dreamed of becoming a magazine editor, ya know the kind with one of those snazzy offices in New York City full of inspiring magazine clippings scattered across the walls and notepads lined with my ingenious headline ideas. Well, it’s not that I have given up on that goal, but until I figure out the logistics of a NYC lifestyle (subways, apartment-hunting, laundromats, etc.) I will be sharing my story here, using words & photos to share my life with you. Welcome to my corner of the internet.

WHY ARNO & THIRD?

Here’s the story behind the name: When I was in college I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. And while the weekends were often spent jet-setting to other countries, the weekdays were filled with a quiet peace wandering the city.

At the intersection of the river Arno & the 3rd street from the Duomo is where you would find me. The place where I sat with journal in hand, reflecting on my life. The place where I saw Italians and tourists alike wandering the streets with an unparalleled sense of wonder. The place where I simultaneously felt the most joy and peace.

The place that shaped me.
